Overview

The Quiet World is an experimental short that uses stillness and minimal motion to communicate character conflict and environment tension. Sound and visual pauses work together to build mood more than dialogue.

My role
  • Cinematographer — lighting, framing, camera movement
  • Actor — embodying character presence
  • Set Designer — visual compositions + props
  • Tone coordination with edit + sound
Process
  • Concept: Use visual silence and body language to shape emotional beats.
  • Cinematography: Construct shots with minimal cuts and with intention in framing.
  • Performance: Leverage stillness and micro-expressions instead of dialogue.
  • Set design: Create visual cues that support atmosphere without overwhelming the frame.
Outcome
  • Built a visual rhythm driven by stillness and composition
  • Created tension through spatial relationships and absence of dialogue
  • Next: iterate with sound cues aligned to visual pauses
